APEMC 2027 will recognize outstanding papers through two award categories: the Best Paper Award (BPA) and the Best Student Paper Award (BSPA). Three papers will receive awards in each category, for a total of six award-winning papers.
Authors who wish to enter the award competition must select Best Paper Award (BPA) or Best Student Paper Award (BSPA) in the “Award” section of the online paper submission form. This selection is separate from the paper’s technical topic or special session selection.
Each paper may enter only one award category. Only papers submitted with the corresponding award option selected will be considered for that category. Papers submitted with “None” selected will not be considered for either award.
To qualify for the BSPA, the applicant must:
- Be enrolled as a student on the paper submission deadline.
- Be the first author of the submitted paper.
- Be the primary contributor to the research presented in the paper.
The Technical Program Committee (TPC) and the Award Committee will jointly select eight finalist papers in each category based on the paper review scores and reviewers’ comments.
Finalists will be notified before the symposium and will receive instructions on poster preparation and the award evaluation process.
Finalists will participate in an on-site award poster session during the symposium. These award poster sessions will be held separately from, and in addition to, the regular oral presentations.
The BPA and BSPA competitions will run concurrently, with a 120-minute session for the eight finalists in each category.
During these sessions, the judging panels will evaluate the finalist papers through poster presentations and discussions with the presenters. Finalists must present their work and respond to questions from the judges. For the BSPA competition, the student applicant must personally present the poster and answer the judges’ questions.
The award poster sessions serve as the final evaluation stage for the BPA and BSPA competitions. They do not constitute a separate poster award category.
Following the final evaluation, three papers in each category will be selected to receive awards:
- Best Paper Award (BPA): Three papers
- Best Student Paper Award (BSPA): Three papers
